PLAYING HAYDN FOR THE ANGEL OF DEATH

Setting bill holm’s poems to music

I won a well-deserved Emmy for editing this half-hour documentary for Pioneer PBS, because this was a very complicated story to tell! It starts with the death of Bill Holm, one of Minnesota’s greatest poets. Then, several of Bill’s friends compose a song cycle based on one of his poems, which they perform in Iceland. Because Bill Holm really really loved Iceland. Finally, we had to include some meaningful information on the immigration of Icelanders to southern Minnesota. I think I did a pretty good job weaving all these elements together. I also provided some of the drop-dead gorgeous drone videography. SEE FOR YOURSELF HERE.
